The History of inaq –
Analytics Driven by Tradition and Innovation
Origins and Early Work in
Water Analysis
The roots of inaq GmbH
date back to 1897, when the Institute of Hygiene at the University of
Innsbruck was founded. It was here that the first systematic water analyses
in Tyrol were carried out, based on the groundbreaking microbiological findings
of Robert Koch and Max von Pettenkofer. The primary objective was
to safeguard drinking water quality and to prevent the transmission of
waterborne diseases at an early stage.
Key Milestones
Our Expertise
With more than a century of
experience in analytics and hygiene, inaq GmbH has established itself as
a recognised testing and inspection body.
The team is actively
involved in the Codex Commission B1 (Drinking Water) as well as in national and
international standardisation committees. Through continuous participation in
the development of new standards and analytical methods, inaq GmbH has achieved
a unique level of technical and scientific expertise.
Scientific Foundations
and Innovation
The work of Robert Koch
and Max von Pettenkofer laid the foundation for modern hygiene. Their
research demonstrated that pathogens such as Vibrio cholerae can enter
drinking water through faecal contamination. These pioneering insights continue
to shape the work of inaq GmbH to this day.
Thanks to modern
technologies, it is now possible to detect even trace levels of contaminants in
water. inaq GmbH combines advanced analytical techniques with a deep
understanding of environmental and hygiene standards to ensure the highest
levels of quality and safety.
Tradition with a
Future-Oriented Focus
Under the long-standing
leadership of owner and managing director Bernd Jenewein, inaq GmbH
successfully combines tradition with innovation. Supported by an experienced
team, state-of-the-art technology, and a clear commitment to quality, the
company continues to be a leading provider in the fields of environmental
hygiene, medical technology, and material analytics.
